Coming on the Darkover stories piecemeal, some need no background, some need little enough that they can be understood and enjoyed, and some seem to make no sense. Luckily, this is one of the first. It obviously takes place in a medieval setting and that is all that is needed for it to make sense.Like all very short stories, the plot is a bit thin, but the characters are likable and what description there is paints a clear picture.
